
The Rural
Medical Education (RMED) Program conducted its annual medical student
interviews with 25 applicants on January 20th and 21st, 2005. The Recruitment
and Retention Committee meets each year at the College of Medicine Rockford
campus to meet and select a pool of students who will be invited to
join the RMED program. Invitations to the RMED Class of 2008 will be
sent out in the next few months.
The 2005
RMED Faculty Development Program sponsored by the National Center for
Rural Health Professions (NCRHP) will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel
in Springfield Illinois on March 4th and 5th in conjunction with the
Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN).
Project EXPORT Center
for Excellence in Rural Health is co-sponsoring a
meeting on Rural Poverty with the Lt. Governor's office. We invite anyone
who is interested to join us on March 7th, 2005 from 3-5pm on the Rockford

The Project
EXPORT Center of Excellence in Rural Health will host the first meeting
of the EXPORT National Advisory Board on the Rockford campus April 11th
and 12th, 2005. The National Advisory Board is comprised of local, state,
regional, national and international members who provide guidance to
the Center and share their expertise in the areas of health disparities
and rural health issues.
The Northern
Illinois Area Health Education Center (NIAHEC) in collaboration with
the National Center for Rural Health Professions and Katherine Shaw
Bethea Hospital in Dixon Illinois is pleased to announce that applications
are currently being accepted for the 2005 Summer Field Experience in
Rural Interdisciplinary Health Professions. The six week field experience
will be held from June 1 to July 12, 2005 and applications can be obtained
