Rural Medicina Academy

The Rural Medicina Academy (RMA) is a K-16 health professions pipeline program targeting underrepresented and underserved minorities. The RMA is housed at the National Center for Rural Health Professions, within the University of Illinois-Rockford and serves as the rural extension of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine Hispanic Center of Excellence (HCOE).

The RMA is funded by a Centers of Excellence (CoE) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Health Workforce Grant (D34HP24461).

The RMA's main programmatic components are:
  • The Science and Health Immersion Program (SHIP)
  • The Summer Scholars
